Two men go swimming in the Baltic Sea and one gets caught in a current. One swimmer manages to get back to shore, and calls the police. A large search operation begins, but the man remains missing. Hours later, a lifeless body is found on the beach.

The police have discovered a lifeless body at the Baltic Sea beach in Markgrafenheide, Rostock. It is not yet clear whether this is the missing man reported since Sunday evening. The identification process must still be completed, the police stated. A man and his friend were swimming in the Baltic Sea at Markgrafenheide on Sunday evening when they were both caught in a current. One managed to return to the shore, while the other was carried away.

His companion reported that they had gone swimming at the Markgrafenheide Baltic Sea beach and had both been caught in a current. The police and volunteers searched for several hours both on land and in the water for the missing man. The search had to be suspended in the late evening due to the weather and complete darkness, according to the police.

Approximately 50 emergency response personnel from the fire department were involved in the search, along with a fire truck, a fireboat, and several other emergency vehicles. The German Society for Sea Rescue had its sea rescue cruiser "Arkona" and the daughter boat "Caspar" on site.

International authorities were informed about the death case in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern due to the missing swimmer. The Beach vacation spot in Markgrafenheide, near the Baltic Sea, has been advised to exercise caution due to this incident. The Fire department from several neighboring towns joined the search effort to locate the missing swimmer in the Baltic Sea.
