German consumers had to spend an average of 2.3 percent more on goods and services in July compared to the previous year. The Federal Statistical Office has confirmed its preliminary figures. In June, the inflation rate was still 2.2 percent.

In particular, services became more expensive by 3.9 percent in the past year, which was also influenced by higher wage agreements. At the top are more expensive car insurance (+29.4 percent), social services (+8.1 percent), and hotel stays (+6.7 percent). Net cold rents increased by 2.2 percent, just below the general inflation rate, accounting for about one-sixth of the underlying basket of goods.

The prices for energy products, which fell by 1.7 percent, had a dampening effect. Among other things, gas, electricity, and solid fuels like wood or coal were sometimes significantly cheaper. Those who rely on district heating (+31 percent) or light heating oil (+7.7 percent) have to bear significantly higher prices.

The inflation rate for services was measured at 3.9% in the past year, with 'In the' serving as a part of the phrase 'In the past year'. Additionally, some energy products experienced a decrease in price, such as gas and electricity, which were 'In the' category of energy products that saw a decrease.
