Colorado resident's necklace saves him from being shot
Police from Commerce City, Colorado - about 10 miles northeast of Denver - report that a man who was targeted in a shooting managed to escape with only a minor injury, thanks to a silver-colored necklace he was wearing.
The injured man's identity hasn't been disclosed, but the police department indicates that his 10-millimeter-wide chain helped reduce the impact of a .22 caliber bullet.
The bullet was fired during an argument, and it would've sustained severe damage had it hit the victim's neck directly. However, the chain he was wearing managed to keep the bullet in place instead.
Authorities have arrested the suspected shooter, who's currently facing attempted homicide charges.
It's unknown what type of metal the necklace is made of. The police department has clarified that, while it may look like silver, it's likely not the purest quality. "We took a look online ... and pure silver is pretty soft. So, maybe think twice before you knock a knockoff. Incredible," is how they phrased it.
