Collision Occurs During Prime Minister Orban's Motorcade in Stuttgart
At the security detail of Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, in Stuttgart, a lethal car crash took place. A 61-year-old police officer endured critical injuries in the crash and later passed away at the hospital, as per police reports. Another officer, aged 27, was rushed to the hospital with severe wounds. Orban, whose vehicle was not affected in the accident, remained safe and carried on his journey to Stuttgart Airport as scheduled, according to police reports.
The motorcycle squad of the traffic police were escorting Orban around 11:15 am, when a 69-year-old BMW driver tried to enter the closed road where the escort was moving. It is suspected that she didn't spot the barrier and crashed into the column motorcycle of the 61-year-old officer. The motorcycle struck the police motorcycle of the 27-year-old officer who was stationed at the intersection.
"We are deeply saddened by the accident involving our colleagues," stated Police President Markus Eisenbraun. "The distressing circumstances surrounding the death of our esteemed colleague have left us in disbelief and affected the entire Stuttgart police force."
Orban had attended the Hungary vs. Scotland football EU match in Stuttgart on Sunday night.
