Climate protester persists in not eating following hospital stay

Wolfgang Metzeler-Kick, a climate activist, was taken to a hospital due to a circulatory collapse after 89 days of hunger strike. His health was deemed critical by medical professionals, but he quickly recovered with an electrolyte solution. Unwavering in his cause, Metzeler-Kick returned to the protest site at the Federal Ministry of Economics following his discharge.
Longing for a government declaration on climate change from Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Metzeler-Kick assures us that his hunger strike will continue even after his hospital visit. He believes it's crucial for Scholz to acknowledge the alarming levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, stating "There is no CO2 residual budget." Metzeler-Kick, alongside three other activists, demands a statement from Scholz that recognizes the gravity of the situation and prioritizes more drastic measures to combat the climate crisis.
Chancellor Scholz has previously called for participants in the hunger strike to end their protest. He emphasized his stance on climate protection but failed to address the specific demands of the activists.
Metzeler-Kick initiated his hunger strike on March 7th, and since then, other activists have joined him in his fight for a more environmentally friendly government. For the initial 78 days, he consumed juices, later progressing to an "absolute hunger strike," which entailed remaining without any carbohydrates but still consuming liquids.
