Climate activists smear Brandenburg Gate with paint again
Climate activists have once again smeared the Brandenburg Gate with orange paint. According to the group Letzte Generation, members painted the west side of the building with paintbrushes. The Berlin police reported on X, formerly Twitter, that two climate activists had been arrested.

The Brandenburg Gate is currently scaffolded on the east side for cleaning work after a previous paint attack by the group. Police arrested 14 climate activists in the course of the first attack in mid-September. The work is expected to cost at least 115,000 euros in total.
The last generation of climate activists seems unfazed by the consequences, as they repeatedly resort to painting symbolic monuments like the Brandenburg Gate. This act of vandalism against the historic Brandenburg Gate is yet another example of criminal activities aimed at raising climate awareness.
