China voices disapproval of US's Russia sanctions plan.
China speaks out against recent US sanctions on Russia. A representative from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, said, "We call on the United States to cease its unlawful, unilateral sanctions."
The US is urged to contribute positively to resolving the current situation. China is in no way involved in the "Ukraine crisis" and is not responsible for it. He further commented that China will stand up for the interests of its businesses and citizens.
Yesterday, the US announced new sanctions targeting over 300 individuals and organizations, including Chinese companies, as a punitive measure against Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. These penalties come ahead of the G7 summit. According to the American government, these individuals have aided Russia in continuing the war.
China is a key ally to Russia, and its support for Russia on the international stage has been well documented.
