China files WTO complaint against EU punitive tariffs on electric cars

The Chinese government has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the European Union's tariffs on electric vehicles from the People's Republic.

The Ministry of Commerce in Beijing announced this on Friday. The EU had imposed provisional additional import duties on electric vehicles from China in early July, citing excessive subsidies for Chinese manufacturers.

The Chinese government is advocating for the removal of the EU's tariffs, arguing that they negatively impact the sale of Electric cars from China. Despite the EU's claims of excessive subsidies for Electric car manufacturers in China, the Chinese government maintains that these tariffs hinder the global promotion of environmentally friendly technologies.
