China confirms readiness for mediator role in war with Russia

China emphasized its readiness for a mediator role in the war with Russia at a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. "Although the conditions and timing are not yet ripe, we support all efforts conducive to peace and are ready to play a constructive role in the settlement of the conflict and the resumption of peace talks," said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to Chinese reports, at a meeting with Kuleba in the southern Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou.

Kuleba reportedly stated that Ukraine is ready to engage in negotiations with Russia. He said that the negotiations should aim to achieve a just and lasting peace. Kuleba also reportedly mentioned that Ukraine had carefully studied the peace plan proposed by China and Brazil.
