Child's body discovered in Lower Saxony by local farmer

A rural worker unearths a grisly find on a pasture in Stade's neighborhood: a child's lifeless body. The child's identity is as yet undetermined, but authorities are also probing the case of the vanished six-year-old Arian at the scene.

On a Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m., the discovery was made during farming activities in Estorf's community. The specifics of the discovery have been kept secret for now. Nevertheless, both a forensic team from the Stade Police Station and investigators from the Arian investigation team are on-site for inquiry purposes.

As per authorities, Arian, a six-year-old child from Elm (Bremervoerde district between Bremerhaven and Hamburg), has been gone since April 22. He strayed from his parents' home in the evening, and a surveillance camera recorded his movement shortly thereafter. His trail went cold afterwards. For a week, search parties and volunteers combed through villages, pastures, and woodlands day and night, looking for Arian. Up to 1200 individuals were involved in the rescue operation. Drones, tracking dogs, helicopters, sonar boats, divers, a military jet, and a reconnaissance aircraft were also employed.

The extensive search for Arian concluded at the end of April

During the search phase, it was inferred that Arian might not have responded to calls due to his autism. The search parties attempted to encourage him out of any potential hiding spot using children's music, balloons, and recordings of his loved ones. However, these efforts bore no fruit.

The extensive search for Arian concluded at the end of April. Since then, a specialized police team has been orchestrating further strategies. The latest search took place two days later, in mid-May. The Oste river, which flows through Bremervoerde, had already undergone several searches up to its mouth. The investigators recently had several conjectures regarding Arian's fate. As the most probable theory, they believe he might have suffered an accident without external intervention. A criminal case is less likely considering the search teams found small footprints on the Oste, believed to be Arian's. The location of the now discovered corpse is only approximately 7.6 kilometers away from Arian's hometown.
