Unlawful behavior - Child tossed into cat crate from lofty floor

A young girl covered in injuries was found in a cat box beside a Berlin home, suspected to have been thrown from a third-floor window by her own mother. The disheartening incident came to light on Tuesday when authorities confirmed the one-year-old victim was discovered in the southeastern part of the city, Berlin-Treptow. The mother, 41, has been detained by the police. The motives behind this horrendous crime remain a complete mystery to the prosecution.

officers shared that the little girl, whose cries led to the discovery, was actually 21 months old. A passerby had spotted the box and the girl on the ground at the back of the apartment building. The witness promptly contacted the fire department, who then transported the injured child to the hospital. Although the little one wasn't near imminent danger of death, the child was experiencing severe injuries from falling.

The family's residence lies on the third floor of a building in the Altglienicke region, near the city's airport. According to media, the mother was said to have hurled the child from a height of at least ten meters. An image by the "B.Z." displays a blue plastic box, typically used to transport felines, in front of a home alongside bike racks. The police have barricaded the area with red-white flagging tape. Within the dwelling, the police discovered a nine-year-old sibling, alongside the mother. The child was taken into care by the youth welfare services.

Owing to the alleged attempt on her child's life, a homicide squad has assumed the investigation against the mother. So far, the woman has remained silent, and no drug abuse or neglect has been detected. The child's father or another man was not observed in the residence as of Tuesday. The prosecution sought a detention order along with custody for the mother. On that same day, she was set to appear before a judge.
