- Charged with attempted murder after London stabbing

Following a stabbing incident involving an 11-year-old girl in central London, a 32-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder. Prosecutors allege that he stabbed the child eight times, with wounds to her face, shoulder, wrist, and neck. The Romanian suspect remains in custody, as decided by a judge in the British capital. A further hearing is scheduled for September 10th at the Old Bailey.

The 11-year-old girl was seriously injured but not critically during the attack on bustling Leicester Square on Monday, police reported. Contrary to initial reports, the 34-year-old mother of the girl was not injured. "It was later confirmed that blood from the girl's injuries was mistaken for the mother's own injuries," police said.

Authorities do not believe the attack was terror-related.

The alleged attacker is not known to the girl or her mother. The attack on the central square, near many attractions, theaters, and shops, caused concern. Recent incidents of violent far-right unrest in many British cities have raised tensions. They accuse authorities of lying about the identity of a stabber who killed three girls and injured several children in the northwest English town of Southport. Social media rumors suggested the suspect was a Muslim migrant. A 17-year-old, born in Britain to Rwandan parents, is the prime suspect.

The 32-year-old man is accused of attempting to murder the 11-year-old girl, as evidenced by the eight stab wounds she sustained. Unfortunately, the girl was murdered, with fatal injuries to her neck.
