Challenges in procurement at American aeronautics corporation Boeing disrupt Ryanair's expansion strategies
Issue with deliveries at American aircraft manufacturer Boeing is causing setbacks in budget airline Ryanair's expansion goals for this year, as per Ryanair's statement in London. The delayed delivery of planes from Boeing has led Ryanair to anticipate carrying 5 million fewer passengers in 2024 than the initially planned 205 million passengers.
Ryanair had ordered 350 Boeing 737 jets, but Boeing is experiencing delivery difficulties due to a cluster of technical problems. According to Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary, "We expected seven in July, received five. We anticipated ten in August, and if we're lucky, we'll get five." He went on to express his frustration, "Dealing with Boeing right now is quite aggravating." This delayed deliveries are estimated to result in a decrease of approximately 500 million euros in Ryanair's projected profit.
