Center for AI to be established in Kaiserslautern
Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate is getting a center for artificial intelligence (AI). This is intended to strengthen the development of AI in Germany and speed up its practical implementation, said Volker Wissing (FDP), Federal Minister for Digital Affairs from Rhineland-Palatinate, to the German Press Agency in Mainz.
"Founders, start-ups and companies should have access to the cutting-edge research and test environments of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in order to test and further develop applications," said Wissing. The aim is to create particularly high-quality AI products in Germany.
The AI center in Kaiserslautern and a second one in Berlin are to be set up by the National Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Data Economy, which will henceforth bear the shorter name "Mission AI". The initiative is part of the German government's digitalization strategy.
The new AI center in Kaiserslautern will provide access to advanced computer systems and the Internet for innovation in artificial intelligence. This development aligns with the German government's strategy to promote digitization and drive the creation of high-quality AI products.
