Unknown individuals have destroyed a ATM in Duesseldorf and caused significant damage. The affected residential and commercial building was evacuated early on Saturday morning, the police stated. A helicopter was used in the search for the suspects.

According to police, witnesses reported an explosion at the bank branch in the night. Shortly after the incident, three persons were said to have fled in a dark small car. The search for the suspects remained unsuccessful at first.

Damage to the building was extensive, but the structure was not affected, the police shared. The residents were able to return to their apartments. No one was injured. Whether the suspects made off with loot was initially unclear.

The ATM bombing in Düsseldorf is being investigated as a case of criminality by the local police. Despite using a helicopter in the search, the individuals responsible for the ATM bombing have not been caught yet.
