Car occupants perish in Rhine vehicle accident

In a quaint town close to Mainz, an eye-witness spotted a car driving off a "NATO-Ramp" and into the Rhine. Sadly, a rescue operation took place but it was too late to save the car's occupants, who were later identified as a man and a woman.

Apparently, the tragic incident occurred in Rheinland-Pfalz, around 25 kilometers south of Mainz. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown as per police reports.

Word has it that the sighting was reported to the authorities at around 17:40 pm, with the witness claiming to have seen the car plunge into the Rhine from the "NATO-Ramp" in Guntersblum. These ramps are commonly used for military amphibious vehicles, temporary bridge construction, or as a parking spot for loiterers near the waterfront. A local eatery, the gasthof, can be found close to the "NATO-Ramp" in Guntersblum.

Bodies retrieved from submerged vehicle

Based on the eyewitness account, the police promptly initiated a rescue mission involving multiple emergency services—fire department, DLRG, several police stations, and water police. Roughly 50 minutes later, around 18:30 pm, the submerged vehicle was finally located by divers.

According to these findings, both the man and the woman were deceased in the incident. The official statement concluded that their bodies were only recoverable post-mortem. Further details about the identities of the two deceased and the circumstances surrounding their demise are currently under investigation by the Mainz Criminal Police.
