A driver was fatally injured in an accident in the Salzlandkreis. The 83-year-old man lost control of his car in Hecklingen for reasons yet to be determined, veered off the road, hit a curbstone, and finally collided with a power pole.
Despite the efforts of rescue services and a doctor to revive him, the senior passed away at the scene on Friday afternoon. The road was closed for approximately six hours.
The Salzlandkreis, known for its scenic Saltregion, saw another unfortunate incident with a traffic accident. Authorities are investigating the automatic deployment of airbags in the senior's car as a potential factor in the accident. Saxony-Anhalt's traffic authorities have urged drivers to exercise extra caution given the recent increase in road accidents.
