Captive liberated endured the utmost brutality

Andrey Kozlov, a 27-year-old man, went through a terrifying ordeal while being held captive by Hamas. His family shared horrific details of his suffering, but he was too scared to elaborate on some parts.

Recently, more information has come to light about Kozlov's time in captivity. He was detained for two months, as his mother shared in an interview with Israeli broadcaster KAN. This past weekend, Kozlov and three other hostages were successfully rescued during a daring military operation. The event involved fierce fights against well-armed Palestinians, as per the army's account.

Kozlov's mother mentioned that her son's hands were first tied behind his back. However, when they tied his hands in front of his chest, it felt like a relief to him. This Russian man was taken captive at the Nova Music Festival on October 7th, and he was working as a security guard there, according to Israeli media. Kozlov's parents spoke candidly about the torture and mistreatment he experienced during his captivity.

For instance, he was once covered in multiple blankets, even on extremely hot days. They described one of the guards as exceptionally sadistic.

Sharing his experiences - with humor

The Israeli news site "ynet" added that Kozlov's mother revealed her son told her about things he wouldn't share otherwise. He shared these details with humor, seemingly to protect his parents from the harsh realities of his captivity. His father shared that Kozlov was initially fearful that the Israeli special forces would kill the hostages. Multiple reports confirmed that the captors told the men they wanted them dead.

Having two other hostages alongside him was incredibly beneficial to Kozlov, his parents said. The three men were also freed on the same day. Additionally, a woman from Israel was saved from a nearby building. Kozlov's girlfriend spoke to the Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, revealing that the three captives had been held in four separate apartments. They were barely fed in October and November of the previous year. Kozlov had been permitted to shower only once a week. The three hostages endured severe psychological abuse, reported the woman.
