- California blazes encroaching on airfield
In California, firefighters are currently battling multiple massive blazes, with the flames now encroaching on an airport situated approximately an hour southeast of Los Angeles.
The tiny airfield in Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, specializes in drone Savvy, as per US news outlets. Initially, the so-called Airport Blaze was not easy to extinguish, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). Consequently, they prompted evacuations in various surrounding localities.
Reports indicate that shelters are accessible, while several routes have been blocked. Unfortunately, CBS News reported three casualties, including two firefighters.
The fire started on Monday, according to sources. The blaze rapidly spread, engulfing a space of around 22 km² as specified by Cal Fire. Approximately 1,000 professionals are on-site, as reported further by CBS News. They're primarily focused on preventing the fire from engulfing residential complexes.
As for the origins of the Airport Blaze, it wasn't initially known from authoritative sources. However, speculation in media circles suggests it was possibly accidentally ignited by construction activities in the vicinity.
Moreover, wildfires are also ravaging other areas in California. The infamous Line Blaze in San Bernardino County, adjacent to Los Angeles County, also spread misleadingly last weekend. Thousands of people were forced to abandon their homes in the face of the flames.
The Commission has declared a state of emergency due to the extensive wildfires in California. Despite the efforts of 1,000 firefighters, the Airport Blaze continues to pose a significant threat to nearby residential complexes.
