Police - Bus crashes into motorhome - both drivers seriously injured
In a collision between a city bus and a motorhome at Engelsbrand (Enzkreis), both drivers sustained serious injuries, according to the police. Two of the five bus passengers reportedly suffered lighter injuries. The motorhome had previously driven onto the wrong lane. The exact cause was initially unclear.
Firefighters had to extract the 66-year-old driver of the cargo transporter from the wreckage, according to reports. Helicopters reportedly flew both the 66-year-old bus driver and the 24-year-old driver to a hospital. "The damage is estimated to be around 200,000 Euros initially. Both vehicles suffered total economic damage," it was stated.
The police closed the state road 562 completely for approximately four hours. The bus is reportedly to be recovered on Tuesday.
The collision occurred in the Enzkreis region, which is part of Baden-Württemberg. The public bus and the motorhome collided on state road 562. Despite the efforts of the police, the exact cause of the accident remains unclear. The incident resulted in several traffic delays due to the closure of the road.
