Beer from Czechia - Budweiser Budvar Brewery sets new record quantity
The Czech State Brewery Budweiser Budvar produced over 1.8 million hectoliters of beer last year - more than ever before in a year since its founding in 1895. Over 70% of this went to export, as revealed in the company's annual report on Friday. One of the main sales markets for Budweiser Budvar (Budejovicky Budvar) is Germany. Therefore, the net profit after taxes increased by 46.3% compared to 2022, amounting to approximately 11.6 million Euro.
Brewery Director Petr Dvorak stated that they managed to compensate for the loss of the Russian market due to the invasion of Ukraine and discovered new opportunities in the existing markets. The Czech Republic, as the owner, can therefore rejoice in this. According to the responsible Agriculture Minister Marek Vyborny, the national enterprise injected around 21.7 million Euro into the state budget this year.
Ceske Budejovice (Budweis) is just under 90 kilometers northeast of Passau. Do not confuse the beer brand with the American Budweiser (Bud) of the international brewing conglomerate Anheuser-Busch InBev.
