BSW founded Berlin branch
The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) now has a Berlin state branch. At a founding assembly in Adlershof, Alexander King, former Left parliamentarian, and nursing sister Josephine Thyret were elected as co-chairs. They were the only candidates.
Bundestag member and former Left politician Sahra Wagenknecht founded her party in January. BSW state associations have been forming gradually. The Berlin state association is reportedly the fifth in this series. It currently has approximately 80 members, many of whom attended the founding assembly.
Diploma Geographer King is 54 years old and has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since December 2021, with a brief interruption. In November 2023, he left the Left parliamentary group to join the BSW. Thyret is 49 years old and has been the works council chairman at the state-owned Vivantes clinic conglomerate for almost four years. She has also served as deputy chairman of the supervisory board there for over a year.
The newly established BSW Berlin state association is part of the growing number of state associations for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). At the Berliner Double Peak, the venue for the founding assembly, King and Thyret were both elected as co-chairs, both being the only candidates for these positions.
