The USA have expressed doubts about the result of the Presidential election announced by the Electoral Commission in Venezuela. "We have serious concerns that the announced result does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people", said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken according to US media during a visit to Tokyo.

He urged the Electoral Commission to make the complete results public. Every vote must be counted fairly and transparently. "The international community is closely watching this and will respond accordingly", he added.

According to the official figures of the Electoral Commission, Nicolás Maduro won the election. The opposition does not recognize the victory.
