US campaign - Biden returns to the US capital Washington

US-President Joe Biden will return to the US capital Washington today after his isolation due to a Corona infection. This is evident from the daily schedule released by the White House for the 81-year-old. According to this, Biden leaves his private residence in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in the afternoon (local time), where he had isolated himself due to his Corona infection since the previous Wednesday. His personal physician had previously reported that the symptoms had almost completely subsided and Biden was on the mend. However, it remained unclear whether the US President was still infected with the Coronavirus.

Exact appointments for Biden this week are also unclear - only his regular daily briefing is listed on the schedule. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in town to give a speech before both houses of Congress on Wednesday. He had also planned to meet with Biden today. Biden had also announced that he would clarify his reasons for withdrawing from the US Presidency race this week.

Just before the announcement of his return to Washington, Biden called in to a visit by Kamala Harris at the Democrats' campaign headquarters. Via phone, he encouraged Harris and those present with supportive words. Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Biden announced, "I will be completely involved." "I will be out there campaigning with Kamala," he said. "I will work like a wild man, both as the sitting President to get laws passed, and in the campaign." He is determined to achieve as much as possible in his remaining term, both in foreign and domestic policy.

During Harris' appearance in Delaware, Biden remained connected, listening in and commenting at some points. It was the first time since his withdrawal from the race that the voice of the President was publicly heard. His decision was made known in writing from the Corona isolation.
