Biden stated that the incident went against everything the nation stands for. He added: "Unity is a difficult goal for all, but right now, nothing is more important than that: Unity." The 81-year-old expressed his sympathy to the victims.

Furthermore, Biden mentioned that he had spoken with Trump the previous evening. "I am sincerely grateful that he is doing well and recovering," said the President. "We had a short but good conversation." As a former President and prospective Republican Party candidate, Trump already enjoys an enhanced level of security. "I have always instructed the Secret Service to provide him with all necessary resources, possibilities, and protective measures to ensure his ongoing security," Biden stated.

Additionally, Biden announced an independent investigation into the incident. "There is still no information available regarding the shooter's motive," he emphasized.
