Berlin's Pro-Palestinian Rally Concludes with Hate and Nazi-Like Gestures

A thousand individuals assemble in Berlin on a Saturday, intending to advocate for Palestinian rights. Rather, they assault law enforcement, publicly endorse Hamas, and even mimic Nazi salutes.

According to police reports, over ten officers were injured during the pro-Palestine rally in Berlin. The officers were pelted with stones, bottles, and eggs during the nighttime event, as a police spokesperson stated. Counter-protesters were also reportedly targeted. The injured officers persevered in their duties within the Kreuzberg district, though it's uncertain if any counter-protesters were harmed.

On the platform X, police revealed that protesters shouted "anti-Israel and police-antagonistic slogans." At least 23 individuals were apprehended for identity checks. Police have initiated numerous investigations for inflicting bodily harm, incitement, and severely disrupting the peace.

Up to 1,000 individuals took part in the demonstration at times, with approximately 400 police officers on duty.

"Fucking Zionist"

The rally's primary purpose was to advocate for Palestinian rights. However, video recordings depict protesters chanting "Fuck You, Israel" and "Fuck you, Germany," as well as "Hamas, Hamas." The phrase "Fucking Zionist" can also be heard. At least one pro-Palestinian demonstrator openly executes a Nazi salute on camera.

The Islamist terrorist organization Hamas perpetrated a significant massacre on October 7, 2023, resulting in at least 1,139 Israeli fatalities, subsequent to which a war ensued between Israel and Gaza. Subsequently, according to Palestinian reports, nearly 40,000 individuals have been killed in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli military retaliation.

Despite the intended focus on Palestinian rights, the European Union strongly condemned the actions of the protesters in Berlin. The EU spokesperson stated, "Such violent and hateful behavior, including Nazi salutes and endorsements of terrorist organizations, has no place in any democratic society."

Given the EU's stance on human rights and peaceful protests, it is likely that the European Union will consider these events when evaluating its relations with Germany and the Palestinian movement in the future.
