Pride Month - Berlin under the Rainbow

Berlin is currently marked by the Rainbow flag in various places. The "Pride Month" with the traditional peak being Christopher Street Day (CSD) on July 27th began at the end of June. For four weeks, there are numerous events providing space for queer people and their concerns, which the CSD-Demonstration alone cannot offer. This Saturday, the "Behindert und verrückt"-Pride-Parade starts at Hasenheide. It aims to put the rights of queer disabled people in the spotlight. A weekend later - on July 20./21. - the Lesbian-gay City Festival starts in Nollendorfkiez for the 30th time.

The "Pride Month" Berlin was called into existence by the Berlin CSD e.V. On July 25th, the "Canal Pride" takes place: 19 ships are on the Spree and want to ensure queer visibility. The "Dyke*March" Berlin - a demo for lesbian visibility and joy - starts on the eve of the Berlin CSD for the 11th time this year. The demo starts in the evening at Karl-Marx-Platz in Neukölln. The large Pride-Demonstration marches through the inner city of Berlin on July 27th under the motto "Together we are strong – for democracy and diversity". The Berlin Christopher Street Day is one of the largest events of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-, intersexual and queer community in Europe.

Accompanied by a wedding pop-up festival, a CSD truck at the Berlin Parade, services, evening prayers and other events, the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz (EKBO) supports the "Pride Month". Therefore, many EKBO congregations want to support people who, due to their lifestyle, have to defend themselves against attacks and insults time and again. The wedding pop-up festival is an offer from the Evangelical Church Circle Neukölln. All people who want to get married spontaneously or receive a blessing are cordially welcome - especially queer couples, it was stated by the EKBO.
