Berlin Green Party Member Issues Apology for Intrusion

In the Berlin parliament, Interior Senator Spranger was set to discuss the police officer killed in Mannheim, but was interrupted by Green politician Bozkurt, who laughed. The incident sparked backlash both on-site and online, prompting her to issue a public apology.

Tuba Bozkurt, a Green MP, has issued a formal apology for her inappropriate behavior during a speech about the police officer Rouven L., who was fatally injured in Mannheim after attending an Islam-critical demonstration. She said on social media, "It was a moment of carelessness and disrespect, and I deeply regret it." Bozkurt also extended her sympathies to Rouven's loved ones, expressing remorse for her actions.

When Interior Senator Iris Spranger began addressing the tragic death of Rouven Laur in the House of Representatives, Bozkurt interrupted with a flippant comment, saying "Mannheim is dead?" and proceeding to laugh. Spranger retorted, "I wouldn't laugh about that."

The Green faction issued a statement on social media, condemning Bozkurt's actions and promising to handle the situation within their party. They reiterated their support for the slain police officer and expressed their condolences to his family and colleagues.

Green party leader Omid Nouripour expressed his support for the censure process, saying on social media, "It's important that you're addressing this. Such behavior is unacceptable. I'd like to extend my apologies to the family of Rouven L. on behalf of my party."

The apology came after the Green Party criticized her actions and expressed their condolences to the family of the late police officer Rouven L.

Despite the commemoration of Rouven L's death in the Berlin House of Representatives, which was tied to the Berlin House of Representatives election, Bozkurt's actions align with Alliance 90/The Greens' values being questioned. The party, represented by Green Party leader Omid Nouripour, expressed their support for addressing Bozkurt's behavior and apologized for her actions on behalf of the party.
