Beer price at Oktoberfest reaches new record high
Visitors of this year's Oktoberfest in Munich have to dig deeper into their pockets. For the first time, a liter of beer in some tents costs over 15 Euro. And the prices for alcohol-free beverages are also rising.
The beer price at the Munich Oktoberfest breaks the 15-Euro mark for the first time this year at its peak. According to the city of Munich, the price range for a liter of beer is between 13.60 Euro and 15.30 Euro. This is 3.87% more than the price range of 12.60 to 14.90 Euro per liter of beer at the Wiesn last year.
The beer prices are set by the Oktoberfest hosts, while the city only checks them for reasonableness. Prices in the large Munich inns serve as a comparison - a liter of beer currently costs between 7.70 and 12.80 Euro there. Prices for alcohol-free beverages are also rising. A liter of table water costs 10.48 Euro, lemonade 11.67 Euro, and Spezi 12.23 Euro on average.
The increases in the prices of alcohol-free beverages are therefore between 44 cents and 58 cents per liter. The Oktoberfest is the largest folk festival in the world with regular attendance of more than six million visitors. The 189th Wiesn takes place from September 21 to October 6.
The Oktoberfest, held in the heart of Bavaria's capital, Munich, is known globally. Despite its international reputation, the costs associated with this year's celebration, particularly for a liter of beer, have reached unprecedented heights. Surpassing 15 Euro for the first time, a liter of beer now puts a strain on visitors' budgets. Additionally, the prices for alcohol-free beverages, such as water, lemonade, and Spezi, have also witnessed a noteworthy increase.
