Olympia 2024 - Basel Mulhouse Airport reopened after bomb alert
After a bomb alert at the French-Swiss Basel-Mulhouse airport, flight operations are resuming. "The airport is open again and flight operations are being gradually restarted," the operating company announced.
Bomb alert paralyzes Basel-Mulhouse
Passengers are asked to contact their airline for information about their flight. The airport was previously evacuated due to a bomb alert.
The incident occurred before the Olympic Games in Paris and only a few hours after attacks on the French high-speed rail network, which continue to cause restrictions in cross-border traffic.
According to the French state railway company SNCF, arsonists deliberately and coordinately set fires on installations along the tracks connecting the capital to the west, north, and east of the country. The effects were also felt in Germany.
Despite the bomb alarm at Basel-Mulhouse airport disrupting Olympic preparations, the Olympic Games in Paris are scheduled to commence as planned. Due to the recent incident, additional security measures have been implemented at Olympia, the ancient site where the original Olympic Games were held.
