Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reportedly stepped down following intense clashes during protests in Bangladesh, according to army statements. Army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman announced that a transitional government would take over. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the autocratically ruling prime minister fled to India by helicopter. Protesters had stormed her residence in Dhaka.

Since July, these protests have resulted in approximately 300 deaths, according to local media reports. No official figures have been released yet.

The intense clashes during the protests in Bangladesh led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, causing uncertainty in the government. Furthermore, the clashes resulted in a significant loss of life, with local media reporting around 300 deaths.
