Baerbock justifies costs for make-up artist
According to the Foreign Office, the make-up artist for Minister Baerbock cost 136,500 Euro in 2022. The Greens defended the expenses: Anyone who appears on television must be made-up due to the strong spotlights. "Otherwise, one looks like a corpse. Because one is totally grey."
Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock defended her ministry's expenses for a make-up artist against criticism. In television appearances, one must be made-up due to the strong spotlight, the Green politician said during a roundtable discussion with Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, NDR, and "Hannoverscher Allgemeine Zeitung". "Otherwise, one looks like a corpse, because one is completely grey."
During her many travels, there isn't time to find a make-up artist every time on location - especially abroad. "That's why it's the norm then to have corresponding make-up artists," said the Minister. "Not only with me, but with women it is often discussed, and also in the Chancellery and also with the other gentlemen."
"And since I travel a lot and am often on the road day and night, the people will naturally be paid accordingly." The Foreign Office adheres to the statutory provisions. According to the Foreign Office, the costs of accompanying Minister Baerbock by a make-up artist for photo and television appointments in Germany and abroad in 2022 amounted to approximately 136,500 Euro.
Baerbock also commented on the EM. In the Round of 16 match of the national team against Denmark on Saturday, she tipped 2:0 in favor of Germany. "I am a full optimist the whole time." In tipping rounds, there is always tension for her: "My heart burns and glows, and my rational, cool head has to make decisions." That's why she decided: "I will follow only my heart" said Baerbock. "This leads to the fact that I became the last one in our family tipping game."
The Federal Foreign Office justified the high expenses for Minister Baerbock's make-up artist, emphasizing the necessity in television appearances due to strong spotlights. Amidst criticism, Annalena Baerbock, the Green politician, defended the use of a make-up artist during her many travels and obligations.
