Baerbock considers German involvement in Gaza operation.

There's a proposed three-stage plan to resolve the conflict between Israel and Hamas, opening possibilities for ending the war in Gaza. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock suggests that her country may contribute to an international protective force.

At a gathering of her party in Potsdam, Green politician Annalena Baerbock hinted at potential German involvement in a shielding force for the Gaza Strip. "Much like we've been demonstratively supportive of Ukraine's independence and peace, I believe this applies to me as well for the Middle East. If it's not just repairs that are necessary now, but an international protective operation that eventually leads to peace in the Middle East, then that's our shared responsibility," she expressed.

A temporary humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza War could be achieved, according to Baerbock, with several vital conditions. These include Hamas halting their assaults, the release of Israeli prisoners, and Israel withdrawing from Gaza.

During her visit to the German Catholic Day in Erfurt, Baerbock was questioned about her proposition, yet she neglected to divulge any specifics due to ongoing global discussions. She alluded to the possibility of a protective force, noting her belief that "now is the time to unambiguously show what we've already covered with others: we're prepared to assume responsibility, but we haven't gone into details just yet."

"Our nation is committed"

In Potsdam, Baerbock reaffirmed how indebted Germany is to its European allies, the European Union, and former foes of World War II for granting them the liberty and tranquility to dwell in the European heartland. "Our ability to live freely and peaceably in the heart of Europe is due to the support of others." Mid-May saw Baerbock skeptical about the League of Arab Nations' appeal for a UN safety net for the Gaza Strip. She emphasized the necessity of a humanitarian ceasefire first.

Annalena Baerbock's proposition for German involvement in an international protective force could potentially shape the outcome of the Israel-Gaza conflict, specifically in the Gaza Strip. This involvement, as Baerbock suggested during her party gathering in Potsdam, could potentially lead to a peaceful resolution of the Israel war, given that certain conditions, such as a halt to Hamas' assaults and the release of Israeli prisoners, are met by both parties.
