Authorities Set to Disclose Fresh Details Regarding the 'Asian Doe' Victim in the Gilgo Beach Homicide Series Investigation
District Attorney Ray Tierney from Suffolk County declared that they'll disclose the recent development during a press conference, following a trial related to Heuermann's case.
Heuermann, a ex-architect from New York, was detained in July 2023 and is currently facing charges of murder, linked to the deaths of six women hailing from various communities in Long Island over three decades.
The law enforcement had been persistently looking for the perpetrator behind the mysterious series of killings targeting women. Four of the women, now referred to as the “Gilgo Four,” were discovered with belts or tape tied around them and enveloped in burlap along a coastal stretch of Gilgo Beach, Long Island, in 2010.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all the murder accusations and is currently held without bail.
As per the statements made by Heuermann's counsel, Michael Brown, during a January press meeting, Heuermann continues to maintain his innocence and looks forward to contesting the allegations.
At least 11 sets of human remains have been found in Suffolk County, Long Island, among which are the remains of the women Heuermann is alleged to have killed.
Heuermann has been implicated in the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor, and Sandra Costilla.
Heuermann was charged with the killings of Barthelemy, Waterman, and Costello after his capture in 2023, while the charge related to the death of Brainard-Barnes was levied against him in January. This summer, officials announced charges in reference to the deaths of Taylor and Costilla, citing new findings from the extensive investigation.
In a June hearing, the court was presented with distressing evidence uncovered during the investigation, including a meticulously drafted plan outlining methods for murder.
A Word document, as stated in the bail application, was allegedly created by Heuermann on his laptop in 2000 and later modified over several years. This document reportedly detailed how to dispose of bodies, evade captures and avoid leaving behind DNA evidence, along with listing essential supplies required for committing serial murders.
“This was a cold-blooded blueprint used by Heuermann to meticulously map out his murders with chilling precision, with the intent to locate his victims, subdue them, and ultimately take their lives,” stated District Attorney Ray Tierney in a news conference last month.
As per the bail application, other evidence also pointed out Heuermann's extensive collection of violent, bondage, and torture-themed pornography, dating back to 1994.
CNN's John Miller, Mark Morales, and Brynn Gingras contributed to this report.
