In primarily Moscow-controlled Donetsk's jurisdiction, around five individuals lost their lives in Chasiv Yar due to Russian artillery fire, as per Ukrainian accounts. According to Vadym Filaschkin, the Ukrainian overseer of the contentious Donetsk region, Russian shells fell around dawn, striking a private residence and a residential building. The victims were males aged 24 to 38.

"Chasiv Yar remains a city where living comfortably is out of reach for over two years now. Stay clear of the Russians' crosshairs! Seek shelter!" Filaschkin advised. Previously, he issued evacuation orders for numerous villages in Donetsk due to the Russian soldiers' advance. The Pokrovsk region has also become an area of high contention, with banks temporarily closed starting from Monday.

The Russian Defense Ministry had earlier reported progress in the Donetsk region, claiming control over the village of Kirove. These declarations, however, remain uncorroborated, as they lack independent confirmation. On the other hand, Ukrainian military analysts also credit Russian troops with additional territory gains in the region.

Shelling and Grief in Kharkiv

The authorities also reported fresh Russian artillery fire in the Kharkiv region. At least two civilians succumbed to their injuries in the village of Chervona Lozova, and eight others were injured, according to military governor Oleh Synyehubov from a Telegram message. Previously, a severe Russian aerial attack on a Kharkiv high-rise resulted in at least seven fatalities and 97 injuries. Synyehubov ordered flags at half-mast as a sign of mourning.

The Ukraine has been maintaining its resistance against the Russian intrusion for more than two and a half years, receiving support from the West. Lately, Ukrainian forces have been targeting Russian regions actively to disrupt supply lines.

Approximately 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers entered the Kursk region at the start of August, reportedly capturing numerous villages and over 1,000 square kilometers of territory. According to Russian reports, intense combat persists. Russian military bloggers describe the situation in the Kursk region as highly tense but without any significant changes in troop deployment.

"During the shelling in Chasiv Yar, a private residence and a residential building were hit, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives. The shot from Russian artillery claimed the lives of males aged 24 to 38."

"In light of the ongoing conflict, Filaschkin advised individuals in Chasiv Yar to stay cautious and seek shelter, warning them to avoid the Russians' crosshairs after a shot was fired."
