Urgency Incidents - Authorities discover a corpse while looking for a missing nine-year-old in Saxony.

Authorities in Döbeln, Saxony, have discovered a deceased person during their search for the missing nine-year-old girl, Valeriia. They plan to determine if the individual is indeed the missing child, who went missing on June 3rd.

The body was allegedly found in a forest located between the Rosswein district of Mahlitzsch and the Döbeln district of Hermsdorf within the Mittelsachsen district. The police have set up a media briefing for Wednesday afternoon to provide more details.

Shortly after this shocking revelation, the road linking the two districts and where the body was discovered was closed off by law enforcement authorities. Curious residents gathered nearby.

Authorities from Chemnitz Criminal Police and the Crime Scene Unit of the Saxon Criminal Investigation Office were spearheading the on-site investigation. The Chemnitz Public Prosecutor's Office was also present on the scene. "We cannot divulge additional information at this time due to the imperative nature and lengthy investigation process," stated the police.

Valeriia had been last sighted en route to school. Unfortunately, she never reached her destination. According to Bild's report, a classmate who arrived late that day saw Valeriia at around 9:20 am in front of the school. She may have been waiting for someone. The investigative team followed the lead and conducted a search in the area accompanied by dogs - without success, as a police spokeswoman confirmed.

Valeriia, who reportedly resided with her mother in Germany since 2022, was said to be speaking in broken German. Her father is thought to still be in Ukraine, but there is ongoing communication between the two.

Over 400 policemen from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt were mobilized in the search for Valeriia. In the past few days, officers had been dispatched to numerous locations, such as the Mulde River and the questioning of residents. Subsequent investigations involved meadows, fields, and forests in the southern section of the city, assisted by special dogs and a helicopter.

Furthermore, the police have reached out to police forces in Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, the primary focus remains on Döbeln. The city's population of around 24,000 residents was encouraged to watch out for the girl in their own backyards, basements, garages, and sheds. Private search parties had also formed. "The apprehension in the city's populace is tremendous," remarked Döbeln's mayor Sven Liebhauser (CDU) several days ago.

Despite broadcasting the missing person reports on TV shows like "Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst" on ZDF and "Kripo live" on MDR, the police have not received any tangible leads about Valeriia. "We won't lose hope. We'll keep searching and need to figure out what transpired with the child," commented a representative from the Chemnitz Police Department over the weekend.

This story bears a striking resemblance to the case of the six-year-old Arian from Bremervörde-Elm in Lower Saxony, who disappeared on April 22nd. The search for the autistic child remained fruitless on May 23rd. The police have been in pursuit of the eight-year-old Mohamed, autistic, from Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia since May 25th. Germany's population currently has nearly 10,000 individuals listed as missing.
