Audio recording proves brutal triple murder

For a long time, a neighborhood dispute was fought in a multi-family house, which ended fatally. A 65-year-old man shot three of his neighbors in the head. On the recording of one of the victims, the shooting can be heard.

In the trial for a triple murder in a multi-family house in the Augsburg district, the prosecution played a distressing tone recording. The four shots at the three people within only 16 seconds, screams, and the events before and after at the crime scene in Langweid am Lech were recorded accidentally by one of the victims. The man had probably accidentally activated a video recording and put his phone in his pants pocket. Although no image is visible, the police had this rare piece of evidence through a similar case.

Just like several times during the trial, the 65-year-old defendant listened to the recording mostly emotionless and motionless. The accused sports shooter, who legally possessed several weapons, claims total memory loss for the time in question.

According to the indictment, he had killed a 49 and 52-year-old married couple in the shared stairwell with headshots in July 2023. Subsequently, he allegedly shot a 72-year-old neighbor through her apartment door with a shot to the head and injured two tenants of the elderly woman in another house with shots through a door.

Wife of the defendant met the victim's husband at the crime scene

On the audio recording, the neighbor is heard climbing the stairs to his apartment, opening the door, and then the first shot falls. According to the investigation, the perpetrator killed the man without warning from behind. The wife, who was only a few meters behind her partner, started screaming and was killed with two shots to the head shortly thereafter. The perpetrator then shot from one floor below at a neighboring apartment window. The 72-year-old, who was standing behind the apartment door due to the shots, died within minutes.

After the defendant had fled, his wife came home a little later and found the bodies. She met the husband of the 72-year-old woman, who had called the police emergency number to request help. "Oh God" and "I'll go crazy," the woman repeated in this situation. "What's your husband doing? Where did he get the gun?" the neighbor asked. The woman answered that her husband was indeed a sports shooter. Five more court hearing days are planned for the trial. The verdict could be announced at the end of July.

  1. The ongoing trial in Augsburgfor 'Murder and manslaughter' charges involves a recording that captured the international processes of a triple murder case.
  2. The case, which involves a sports shooter defendant accused of shooting neighbors, includes the unfortunate death of two people, one of whom was the wife of the defendant, who stumbled upon the crime scene.
