At Gamescom, more companies than ever before showcase their products.
At this year's Gamescom, more companies than ever before are presenting their products and services. Over 1,400 exhibitors have already registered, a 15 percent increase from last year's event, according to Koelnmesse. "This is a new record," said Gerald Böse, CEO of the fair. More registrations could still come in before the start of the world's largest gaming event on Wednesday (21 August).
Notably, the Gamescom has become more international: While 26 countries and regions were represented in pavilions last year, this year there are 37. New additions include India, Mauritius, Portugal, Sweden, Bulgaria, and South Africa. The Gamescom is a public event, with around 320,000 visitors attending last year's event in Cologne's exhibition halls. This year, the turnout is expected to be similarly high, with Saturday (24 August) already sold out.
Felix Falk from the industry association Game, which co-organizes the event with Koelnmesse, sees the significantly higher exhibitor numbers as evidence of growing interest in the industry and its positive prospects. However, the industry in Germany had to face a six percent decrease in sales in the first half of 2024, the first such decline in a long time.
In comparison to last year's event, there has been a 15% increase in registrations at this year's Gamescom, with over 1,400 exhibitors now participating. In addition to returning countries, India, Mauritius, Portugal, Sweden, Bulgaria, and South Africa are new additions to the list of represented countries and regions.
