Around 4300 crimes with a radical Islamic background registered in Germany
Since the Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians on October 7, around 4300 crimes with a radical Islamic background have been registered in Germany to date. Of these, 470 were acts of violence, Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser announced in Berlin on Thursday. 130 police officers had been injured in the line of duty. At the same time, Faeser emphasized on the sidelines of the conference of federal and state interior ministers that there was "an intensified threat situation, in particular of course from Islamist terrorism".
Faeser also reported that there were increasing calls for attacks in the jihadist spectrum. The danger of further radicalization of Islamist criminals is great. That is why the security authorities are stepping up their efforts to combat Islamist terror propaganda, which is mainly spread via social media. Since October 7, the Federal Criminal Police Office has blocked more than 200 channels and content on the Telegram service alone. More than 1500 deletion requests have been sent to other channels. "This shows that we do not tolerate Islamist propaganda and we do not tolerate anti-Semitic and anti-Israel hate speech," said Faeser.
