Armenia supports the establishment of an autonomous Palestinian state.

Armenia has made the decision to acknowledge a self-governing Palestinian state, as stated by their Foreign Ministry. This move demonstrates Armenia's dedication to upholding international law and promoting equality, sovereignty, and harmonious coexistence among nations. Armenia joins a growing list of countries, including Slovenia, Spain, Ireland, and Norway, that have previously recognized a Palestinian state within recent weeks.

Erevan expresses heartfelt hope for a long-lasting peace in the region, specifically considering the deteriorating situation in Gaza Strip. The Erevan administration is adamantly opposed to any acts of violence targeting civilians. The two-state solution proposes a self-governing, peaceful coexistence Palestinian state existing alongside Israel.

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, Hussein al-Sheikh, rapidly welcomed Armenia's announcement. He declared, "This is a triumph for legality, justice, legitimacy, and the ongoing battle of our Palestinian people for freedom and independence."

In May, Spain, Ireland, and Norway officially acknowledged a Palestinian state, while Slovenia's parliament voted in favor of recognizing a Palestinian state earlier in June. Unlike their Western counterparts, these countries no longer adhere to the long-standing policy of recognizing a Palestinian state only after reaching a peace agreement with Israel.
