Approximately half of the employed persons in Germany receive holiday pay
Approximately half of the employed persons in Germany receive wage bonuses for vacation pay this year. On average, this amounts to 1644 Euro, as the Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced on Thursday. This represents an increase of 42 Euro or 2.6 percent compared to the previous year. According to statistics, the proportion of employees receiving vacation pay is 46.8 percent.
Both the proportion and the amount vary depending on the industry: The highest vacation pay, amounting to 3769 Euro according to the Statistics Office, is paid out in the Information Services sector. In the Machinery industry, the average vacation pay is 2982 Euro. The lowest bonus, with an average of 396 Euro, is paid to employees in the sector for the Intermediation and Mediation of Labor.
The evaluations regarding vacation pay are based on collective wage, salary and hourly tariffs as well as company agreements. In the calculation of the average amount, the statisticians only take into account the tariffs in which vacation pay is paid - not bonuses like the Christmas bonus are considered as vacation pay.
- Employees in the Information Services sector, situated in Germany, typically receive the highest vacation pay this year, which is nearly double the average, amounting to approximately 3769 Euro per person.
- Despite the significant difference in vacation pay across sectors in Germany, the Machinery industry also offers a relatively substantial bonus, with an average of 2982 Euro given to its employees for their time off.
