During Iran's busiest tourist period, serious accidents frequently take place. Lately, an incident involving Pakistani pilgrims has transpired, and investigators have proposed a possible explanation.

In a significant bus crash that took place in Iran, at least 28 traveling Pakistani pilgrims tragically perished. Furthermore, 23 other individuals were injured in this unfortunate incident that transpired in the central province of Yasd, as reported by the Iranian state news agency, Irna. A staggering 14 of the wounded passengers reside in critical condition.

Irna provided photographs displaying a severely damaged bus lying on its roof, with the backdrop of a partially collapsed building facade. Irna also stated that both the deceased and injured would undergo transportation back to their homeland in Pakistan.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a mechanical failure of the brakes on a steep incline was determined to be the culprit of the accident, as reported by Irna, citing the area's local traffic police chief. The driver ultimately lost control of the bus.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his sympathies through social media. "I've ordered our mission in Tehran to offer all feasible assistance to the affected relatives," Sharif wrote on the X platform.

Arbaeen represents a Shiite Islamic commemoration ceremony occurring 40 days subsequent to the Ashura festival. This event memorializes the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and his associates in the Battle of Karbala, which transpired in 680 AD. This conflict arose from disagreement regarding Muhammad's legitimate successor, ultimately generating the two predominant branches of Islam: Sunni and Shia. Every year, a colossal gathering of Shia pilgrims from various corners of the world make their journey to Iraq for this purpose.

Iran consistently experiences a high number of accidents, particularly during the tourism period.

The Iranian state news agency, Irna, mentioned that the deceased and injured passengers from the bus crash will undergo transportation back to Pakistan, indicating the need for adequate transportation and telecommunications facilities.

In response to the bus crash, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered assistance to the affected relatives from their mission in Tehran, highlighting the importance of strong telecommunications for coordinating such efforts.
