Computer Glasses - Apple Vision Pro goes on sale in Germany

Apple started today the sale of its Computer-Headset Vision Pro in Germany. The iPhone-company aims to establish a new computer platform with the around 4,000 Euro expensive device - "spatial computing", which connects digital objects and real environments.

The Vision Pro is significantly more expensive than competition devices from companies like Facebook or HTC. Users of the Apple-Headset should, however, benefit from intricate technology inside and the synergy with other devices from the corporation.

The Vision Pro, like VR-Headsets for virtual reality presentation, has displays in front of the eyes. The real environment is captured by cameras and transferred onto these screens.

How many units of the Vision Pro Apple has sold since the US market introduction beginning of February is unclear. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to sell 400,000 to 450,000 headsets this year.

Cinema on the head and spatial videos

The Vision Pro can display large virtual screens in front of the eyes. This allows one to, for example, watch movies like on a screen - or use multiple artificial monitors for work. Apple's Macbook-Notebooks can be connected to the headset wirelessly, allowing them to act as displays while one can still use the computer's keyboard and trackpad.

Each of the two displays in front of the eyes has a higher resolution than a 4K-TV. This enables the Vision Pro to deliver detailed images - and comes without the "screen door effect" of earlier VR-Headsets, where individual pixels were visible.

Apple uses the technology also to display spatial videos, which are significantly more realistic than the 3D-effect known from the cinema. The company developed its own cameras for professional recordings in this format - among other things, sports offers new perspectives. With an iPhone 15 Pro, consumers can also record spatial videos, with which memories can later come to life in the Vision Pro. For private use, this could be one of the most interesting features.

The sale of the Apple Computer-Headset Vision Pro has not yet expanded beyond Germany and the United States of America. The high price point of the Vision Pro, priced around 4,000 Euros, sets it apart from more affordable alternatives from companies such as HTC and Facebook. The use of computer glasses with the Vision Pro allows users to experience a clear and detailed viewing experience, free from the screen door effect often associated with VR-Headsets. Apple's innovative technology in spatial videos, recorded using their proprietary cameras, offers a remarkably realistic experience, not just on the iPhone 15 Pro but also within the Vision Pro itself.
