Apple Recently Announced Its Major iPhone 16 Launch Event
Apple has formally declared its significant September event. On Monday morning, media personnel received invites to this event, carrying the tagline "It's Glowtime." Whether it was an in-person invitation or an online welcome to attend the event, Apple affirmatively stated that the showcase will commence on September 9 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) from Apple Park.
This invite provides no further details, but the hints are quite evident. A September Apple event typically signifies hardware announcements, and this time around, that presumably implies the iPhone 16. Apple is rumored to launch four new iPhone models under the 16 series this year, striking a resemblance to their previous models. There will be a standard and large-sized base version (iPhone 16 and 16 Plus) and a standard and large Pro version (iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max).
As per Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the Pro models will boast larger displays and a dedicated shutter button for photography.
Apple's upcoming suite of generative AI features, expected with iOS 18.1, will be designed for all four iPhones. It's unclear what connection "Glowtime" has to Apple Intelligence or any other potential Apple announcement, so we'll have to wait and see.
According to Gurman, Apple is also scheduling a revamp for the Apple Watch this year. The Series 10 will sport a thinner chassis, but a larger display, continuing the trend of more screen space. (Perhaps "Glowtime" refers to the brighter glow from larger displays?)
AirPods will also be undergoing a makeover. Both the basic models and the "mid-tier" earbuds, which will receive noise cancellation for the first time, will see upgrades.
