Innovation in Computer Science - "Apple Intelligence" - iPhone community initiates AI attack

This autumn, Apple devices are set to receive a variety of AI functions. These features have been designed to cater to the personal requirements of individual users while maintaining a top level of data protection, according to a statement made by the iPhone manufacturer on Monday.

One of the perks of using Apple devices is that they are constantly by our sides. The company made this announcement during the WWDC developer conference, where they also revealed that the Vision Pro computer glasses would be available in Germany in July.

The AI integration has been seamlessly added to the operating systems for iPhones, Macs, and iPads, confirmed software head Craig Federighi. Apple's AI models will only have access to the necessary user information in order to be beneficial. Rather than referring to it as Artificial Intelligence, the organization prefers to use the term "Apple Intelligence."

The AI elements will primarily be executed directly on the devices, according to Federighi. However, they may also draw upon the cloud's resources, with a secure, encrypted connection in place. The Apple software makes the decision on a case-by-case basis to determine if a task should be carried out locally or via the cloud.

Siri, the company's voice assistant, will receive a significant upgrade with the help of AI. For instance, users will be able to edit photos, add new friends' addresses to their contact lists, and more, all through voice commands.

Siri, who has been outshined by chatbots like ChatGPT lately, will become smarter with the assistance of AI additions. These features range from personalized emojis to a more efficient handling of emails and messages in the Mail app.

At Apple's annual WWDC conference, a sneak peek of the software and functionality set to be introduced with new device releases during the fall is traditionally presented.

The addition of ChatGPT chatbots to Apple devices is another intriguing development. In specific situations, Siri may prompt users to enlist ChatGPT for help if it's thought to have more relevant information.

By taking the iPhone out of sleep mode, you'll be able to access data and apps on a Mac computer.

Apple plans to introduce a satellite connection that will allow users to send texts when there's no mobile network coverage. This option will be available for iMessage chats between Apple devices as well as regular SMS messages. Currently, Apple offers an emergency call function over satellite connection.

As of iOS 18, iPhone users will be able to chat with Android users via the encrypted RCS protocol through their messaging app, instead of SMS. In Germany, WhatsApp has been the dominant communication platform for this user base.

Apple's password vault, which lets users store and fill in login data across devices, will be getting its own app. This feature previously resided in the settings section.

The Apple Vision Pro, a pair of computer glasses, will set you back around €4,000. This device will allow users to explore digital realms in virtual reality, as well as blend digital and real-world environments. It will soon be available in Germany on July 12th.

Apple announced at WWDC that the Vision Pro would support its Mac computers. The large displays will appear in the glasses while users type on a real keyboard. Additionally, they revealed an enhanced operating system tailored for the Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro was released in the US in February with a starting price of $3,500 before taxes. Their main competitor offers its VR headset, the Meta Quest 3, for €550.
