Three days after the disappearance of nine-year-old Valeriia in the small town of Döbeln, authorities have ramped up their efforts to find her. Over 500 volunteers are joining the search for any clues that may lead to her whereabouts.
Both active police officers and police students, the water police, a helicopter, and drones are all assisting in the search of the Freiberger Mulde river once more. Residents are also being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Valeriia had left for school on Monday morning around 6:50 am. By the time she arrived at the school, her trail had gone cold. The girl did not show up for school that day. Ever since Monday evening, an extensive search has been taking place for her.
The town's residents are asked to keep an eye out for any signs in their own backyards, cellars, garages, or sheds. Authorities have released pictures of the girl in an attempt to generate leads. At this point, no concrete findings have emerged from these images. All possibilities are being considered, and it's not being ruled out that a violent crime has taken place.
Valeriia is part of a Ukrainian family who moved to Germany with her mother in 2022. The child stands at about 1.40 meters tall and has medium-length dark blonde hair. On the day of her disappearance, she wore a lavender T-shirt, black jeans, a light turquoise jacket, and dark blue shoes that reached her ankles. She was also carrying a pink school bag.
