Anticipates substantial road congestion over the weekend, according to ADAC.

Vacation time for many German students is here: The ADAC predicts heavy traffic on numerous German highways this upcoming weekend, but severe disruptions are yet to be anticipated, the auto club announced. Traffic experts are particularly concerned about congestion on routes leading to the Alps and coastal areas.

The increased travel traffic is attributed to the summer holidays in the German states of Bremen, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. The ADAC forecasts much more significant traffic jams during the first weekend in July, coinciding with the school holidays starting in the most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The ADAC points out that there are currently 1,260 construction sites on German highways. Furthermore, heavy traffic is expected around the cities of Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, and Gelsenkirchen due to European Football Championship matches.

In Bavaria, according to the ADAC's evaluation, motorists should prepare for more goods traffic. Due to the recent flood disaster, the Sunday and public holiday driving ban, as well as the ban on driving after the holiday journey, have been temporarily lifted in the state until the end of July to aid rescue, aid, and clean-up efforts.

Reports indicate construction sites and closures due to flooding and landslides are causing complications on the autobahns in the Austrian and Swiss Alps, according to the Automobile Club.
