Conflicts - Anti-Semitism lecture - 200 demonstrators outside the university
Approximately 200 people demonstrated against antisemitism during a lecture series event at the University of Hamburg on a Wednesday evening. According to police reports, around 65 people attended a pro-Israeli rally "Solidarity with Jewish Students." The pro-Palestinian rally "Hands off Rafah," which took place simultaneously under the slogan "Science must remain objective," attracted roughly 150 people, according to police reports. The demonstration has remained peaceful so far.
Since early May, a pro-Palestinian vigil has been held near Hamburg-Dammtor Station. The gathering on the Moorweide is under the banner "Keep your hands off Rafah." The "Students for Palestine HH" group and the Palestinian group "Thawra" called for participation in the camp on Instagram. The protest camp is allowed to remain until July 31, according to Police spokeswoman Sandra Levgrün of the German Press Agency.
