Another airline affiliated with the Lufthansa Group encounters setbacks
The aviators' guild, Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), is escalating its work stoppage against Lufthansa's vacation carrier, Discover, into its third day. Starting at 18:00 on Thursday, the aircrew responsible for Lufthansa Cityline's freight operations are also scheduled to join the boycott. The VC deemed this as a show of solidarity, with its headquarters in Frankfurt.
Three Airbus A321 transport planes are the focus of this industrial action. Throughout the duration of the strike, the union has strategized three shift cycles comprising a total of eight flights. However, it remains uncertain if these trips will be scrapped, as Lufthansa might assign managers as temporary pilots to cover for the absences.
Concurrently, the primary strike at Discover is currently causing minimal disruptions on its third day. According to the airline, only a solitary long-haul flight and a handful of European connections have been rescheduled. Once more, three brief-haul flights have been reassigned to collaborating airlines.
The aviators' guild is maintaining its stance against the disruptions, now entering its third day. On this Day 3 of the work stoppage, the impact on Discover's operations remains modest.
