hidden filmed - Animals exploited and slaughtered: Prosecutor's office investigates
A 39-year-old man from the Rhein-Sieg-District is suspected of abusing animals and illegally slaughtering them on his farm in Neuwied. According to animal welfare activists with hidden cameras, animals were kicked, struck on the head, thrown, or hit with an iron rod or a wooden stick, stated the Prosecutor's Office in Koblenz.
The cameras reportedly captured multiple instances of sheep being slaughtered without being stunned. "Evidence obtained illegally from private sources is generally admissible in criminal proceedings," explained the Prosecutor's Office.
During a search, the suspect's smartphone was secured. The 39-year-old remained silent about the accusations, it was reported. Workers were also seen on the footage, but they have not been identified yet.
The alleged criminality against animals in Neuwied is being investigated by the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Rhine-Sieg-District, which falls under the larger jurisdiction of North Rhine-Westphalia. The disturbing footage, collected in Koblenz, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, serves as substantial evidence in this case. The use of hidden cameras revealed various acts of animal cruelty, such as kicking, striking, and throwing animals, which are against the law.
